Peels & Facials Aftercare

Facial Aftercare

Congrats on your facial! Facials vary enormously — a hydrating facial, extractions, dermaplaning, enzymes, and chemical exfoliation don't all recover the same way.

If your facial included a peel, microneedling, laser, or another medical procedure, follow that procedure's specific aftercare instead of this general page.

About Facials

Your treatment was customized to your skin, treatment area, device settings, and medical history. These instructions are general guidance and do not replace the individualized instructions from your treating provider. If the instructions we gave you at your appointment differ from anything here, follow your provider's instructions or contact us for clarification.

If something doesn't look or feel right, please reach out — photos are often helpful.

What to Expect

After a typical facial you may have:

  • A temporary glow or flush
  • Mild redness after extractions
  • Slight tenderness where congestion was extracted
  • Temporary dryness or sensitivity if exfoliation was performed

A few small bumps can occasionally appear after extractions or product changes — but we would never tell you that every new breakout is just "normal purging."

What To Do

  • Keep skincare simple and gentle that evening.
  • Use moisturizer as needed.
  • Wear SPF the next day and every day after.
  • Keep your hands off freshly extracted areas.

What NOT To Do

If significant exfoliation or extractions were performed:

  • Avoid scrubs and aggressive actives for 24–48 hours.
  • Avoid unnecessary heat/heavy sweating until redness settles.
  • Don't pick at extracted areas or new blemishes.
  • Don't introduce a brand-new potent active the same evening.

When to Contact Us

A little temporary redness is normal. Hives, pronounced swelling, blistering, increasing pain, spreading redness/warmth, or pus-like drainage are not routine facial downtime — contact us.
