Chemical Peel Aftercare

Congrats on your peel! First, an important note: Environ Cool Peel and VI Peel are different treatments and do not have identical aftercare. Environ Cool Peel is a customizable chemical skincare peel — not a CO₂ laser "CoolPeel." Find the peel you had below.

About Chemical Peels

Your treatment was customized to your skin, treatment area, device settings, and medical history. These instructions are general guidance and do not replace the individualized instructions from your treating provider. If the instructions we gave you at your appointment differ from anything here, follow your provider's instructions or contact us for clarification.

If something doesn't look or feel right, please reach out — photos are often helpful.

Environ Cool Peel — First 24 Hours

  • No makeup.
  • Avoid exercise that causes heavy perspiration.
  • Use only the skincare products your provider approved.

Environ Cool Peel — Days 1–7

  • Avoid AHA/BHA exfoliating acids.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Wear protective clothing when possible.
  • Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen and reapply about every two hours when exposed.
  • If the skin feels tight or dry, cleanse gently and moisturize generously.

Environ's protocol may intentionally include certain vitamin A/antioxidant products, so don't automatically remove prescribed Environ products just because they contain vitamin A — follow the regimen we gave you.

Environ Cool Peel — Up to 14 Days

Mild flaking can occur. Don't scrub or harshly exfoliate it away. If you get small breakouts, don't pick or squeeze them.

Allow about two weeks before injectable treatments unless your provider specifically directs otherwise.

VI Peel — Follow Your Kit

VI Peel comes with a take-home kit and formula-specific instructions. Those instructions take priority over generic peel advice.

A typical facial VI Peel begins flaking around day 2 and visibly peels around days 3–5. Peeling usually eases around day 6, and most people have largely finished by day 7.

During Peeling

  • Do not pull or peel shedding skin.
  • Cleanse gently — no washcloths or scrubbing.
  • Use the Post Treatment Repair Cream or other moisturizer exactly as directed.
  • Use SPF 50+.
  • Avoid direct/extreme sun exposure.
  • Avoid swimming for about 7–10 days.
  • Follow your specific instructions regarding the VI Peel towelettes and makeup.

Common Questions

How long does peeling last after a VI Peel?

A typical facial VI Peel starts flaking around day 2 and visibly peels on days 3–5. Peeling generally eases around day 6, with most people largely finished by day 7. Don't pull or pick the shedding skin.

Do Environ Cool Peel and VI Peel have the same aftercare?

No. They're different treatments with different timelines. Environ Cool Peel focuses on 24-hour makeup/sweat restrictions and avoiding AHA/BHA for up to a week, while the VI Peel follows its take-home kit and a defined day 2–7 peeling window.
