Laser & Energy Aftercare
Laser Genesis Aftercare
Congrats on your Laser Genesis treatment! This is one of our gentlest lasers — a non-ablative 1064 nm Nd:YAG that gently heats the dermis to improve redness, texture, skin quality, fine lines, and scars, with little to no downtime.
Your treatment was customized to your skin, treatment area, device settings, and medical history. These instructions are general guidance and do not replace the individualized instructions from your treating provider. If the instructions we gave you at your appointment differ from anything here, follow your provider's instructions or contact us for clarification.
If something doesn't look or feel right, please reach out — photos are often helpful.
What to Expect
Most people have little or no downtime. You may notice:
- Mild warmth
- Temporary pinkness or redness
- Slight puffiness
- Mild dryness, itching, or sensitivity
What To Do
- Use a cool compress if you'd like.
- Cleanse gently.
- Moisturize normally.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF every day.
You can usually return to normal daily activity right away.
What NOT To Do
If your skin stays visibly hot, red, or sensitive, avoid vigorous exercise, very hot showers, sauna/steam, or anything that adds heat until it settles.
You do not need a routine one-week ban on all skincare just because you had Laser Genesis. If retinoids, acids, or other actives sting afterward, hold them for 24–48 hours or until your skin is back to baseline.
Avoid tanning and intentional UV exposure.
When to Call Us
Blistering, open skin, significant crusting, worsening pain, prolonged swelling, or pronounced lightening/darkening of the skin are not expected routine downtime and should be reported.
Something doesn't look right? Contact us.
Increasing pain, blistering, open skin, spreading redness, drainage, fever, significant swelling, or a reaction that is getting worse rather than better should be evaluated. Photos are always welcome.
Common Questions
Is there any downtime after Laser Genesis?
Usually little to none. You may have mild warmth and temporary pinkness, but most people return to normal activity immediately and can wear makeup the same day if the skin is comfortable.
